Jack Ass of All Trades ~ Corrected At Last!
“Jack of all trades, master of none” is actually incorrectly used. The full phrase is “Jack of all trades, master of none, though ofttimes better than master of one.”
I just put this quote on my About page because I hadn’t pre-prepared a reasonable statement to put there. I always used to say I was a “Jack ass of all trades” but I’m coming to the conclusion that being able and interested in numerous areas is a benefit. (Is this “cross functional teams” in HR/Job Board speak?)
While searching the web for the correct quote - because I couldn’t remember where I had read it in the first place - I stumbled upon a good article on this very topic on the Tim Ferriss blog. It’s titled The Top 5 Reasons to Be a Jack of All Trades.
